View Full Version : Heartless employers

A Philadelphia woman (who had used up all her vacation time earlier) found out that her son desperately needed a kidney to survive. She was able to donate her kidney and went to her company, which granted her a leave of absence, but required her to sign a paper stating that she realized that her company could replace her during her absence.

The woman left, donated her kidney and saved her son's life. In the meantime, her company did go ahead and hire someone to take her place, and fired the woman.

I know that a small company (the one who fired the woman had less than 50 employees) needs every one of their workers, but they had obviously been able to do without her during her vacation. The surgery wasn't some hoax; but basically the company demanded that the woman place her job above the life of her son. Seems outrageously hard-hearted to me.

Do you work somewhere that would do this to you? WOULD you work somewhere that would do this to you?

Clearly she is better off away from such a shower of heartless bastards! But the woman does have to eat. Hope she gets a job, and I'm sure she will. That was just plain bad karma and will come back at them. Could you work in a company that treated a fellow employee like that ? How would that affect staff moral ? It's a small company, so everybody knows everybody, that's gonna be one fecked up place to work for in the future. Nobody would be loyal or have any affinity to such a company. They will pay for this.
