So I am slowly dragging my ass into the 21 century! I've been using an ancient cell phone for yonks and finally got a nice HTC Cha Cha. Great phone!
So I decided to open a Twitter account, not so I could twitter, but so I could follow some interesting people.
For fun I have followed Obama and Sarah Palin! Beat that combo. They are pretty boring as it turns out. So can anybody here suggest some interesting people I could follow ? If you tweet I would be happy to follow you off course :-)
I am thinking about a facebook account, but one step at at time!!!

I have to admit that I'm not a fan of phones with keyboards but it looks good. I'm running a Wildfire atm and like it.

Woah there! Who are you and what have you done with Kitz?

I'm always surprised to learn that some well known politician has a twitter account. When do they have the time to update their tweets (twits? twitterings?) - I expect to see my elected officials keeping their noses to the grindstone, not writing short notes on how wonderful they are (at least, that's what I think they're writing about, but I could be wrong).

I hear ya! I do like the keyboard, great for texting which I do mostly.

I said I was "thinking" about it! No decision have been made. A lot to think about :-)
Nice to see ya around dude :-)

And with regard to Mr President tweeting , I'm sure he only tweets when he's out back having a smoke so no time lost :-)
And his tweets are utterly boring!

Oh my gosh. I'm so glad I got here just in time.
Don't do it kat man. don't go facebook.
Even if you don't add any info beyond a fake name and a picture of a kat...
You get tagged in photos
You get wall posts
You get pulled into comments and end up leaving drunken posts on other peoples walls..
The security management is constantly being updated/changed/replaced...
So even if you think you have it nailed down it all gets turn apart and half the world can now see the stuff you or others have posted about you...
At least if you do it, do it knowing its full of holes.
Its a good address book tool. I'll give it that much.
The voyeur aspect is scary. Almost as scary as the nieve exhibitionist aspect.

Try tagged instead. No personal info. Just blindish dates with strange girls you never actually want to meet (so I was told any way)

If you have an android phone (don't recognize the chacha) try google latitude. that will make you shiver.
Then sort out backups for your sms with a tool that puts it all in your gmail account. And enjoy the grater accuracy that targeted adds start having!!

anyway that's my social tech rant for the moment .
How is everyone?

I've got a HTC Desire HD, mint bit of kit! I don't have Twitter but I use Facebook, also have Google+ but that isn't very lively at the moment otherwise I'd be using that.

OK! I would have to seriously take all that into consideration. The good-drunken posts- and the bad...
I've not actually done the drunken post thing in ages, should remedy that really :-)

I do the drinkin n' chattin thing with a friend over skype.. its quite fun. Rum is our current choice drink recently. Has to be the same drink on both sides.
We should organise an online real beer d.org meet .. We can start a new craze.. it could be called a "Beet" or "obeet"... oh whatever..
Perhaps we should start a drunken thread.. rule is you cant post unless you have had at least one beer. Might need an "inverted captcha" (pass and you dont get in) or something to make sure people are drinking. Might need the same for readers.
Darn we just need an alcoholics forum and be done with it. Ok I'm just stressing about the interview tomorrow. lol green tea for me tonight.
I like the title you have Kits E Kat, very original and cool.

How did the interview go? Do you need a drink to celebrate or to drown your sorrows? Whichever, I'll be here with a nice glass of wine to keep you company.

Ahh. Thats very kind of you Mrs.Mo. and next time I see you on line I grab a glass of red myself.
Interview went well I think but I have been wrong before. Its to do exactly the same job but in a company that does a managed network solution as its only product. For my current company its an add on business for a reasonable successful managed printer business.
Have to wait and see. I'll keep a bottle at hand either way :-)
There will be other interviews anyway. Actually I quite like interviews. Years of contracting rubs off.

Seems I just stole KitsEKats thread in full D.org style.
I have been thinking about Facebook and how someone can understand Facebook without ever having used it or something similar. Its not possible lol..
KitsEKat the only thing for it is to actually do it. But give yourself 6 months with only 3 "friends". Anyone who appreciates your perspective will do. After messing with it I expect you will be cured of your interest.. Though you may be inspired to use it more... Who can say..

Nothing like a good old fashioned thread hijack ! Fingers crossed for the interview.
As such I have no real interest in Facebook, but I should at least say I had a look see.
Meanwhile this HTC phone is great, it's got the Android Gingerbread OS on it. So far - had it a week or so- I missed a call as it locked up when the phone rang. I got a fancy computer like error message saying it basically crashed! Then when I went to turn it off it would not. No way in Gods earth it was turning off, in the end the battery got pulled. Not that impressed with Android thus far....
