Catholic family's living in a mainly Protestant housing estate in The North of Ireland are this week being issued with smoke alarm's and fire blankets, by the police !
This is against a major concern by the police that the Chatolic family's are being burned out of their houses, in an effort by the Protestant's to rid the estate of Catholic's.
This is 2005 right ?

It's heartbreaking that people are still discriminating against each other based on the church you don't attend or the color of your skin. Is your neighbor a good guy? Does he pay his taxes, keep his property picked up so the neighborhood looks nice, refrain from beating his wife and kids? Is he at least polite to you and yours? Then who the fuck cares what he looks like or if he thinks George 'dubbya' is humanity's salvation and Elvis is not really dead? (Oh wait, those last two would probably be the people who are doing the discriminating...)
I get so angry over stupidity like this.

This has been going on for years, the police handing out smoke alarms and fire blankets is new!
What the idiot's don't seem to realise is that across the border in the Republic of Ireland , nobody really give's a toss what religion your in.
Nor do they seem to realise that in the UK , nobody really give's a toss either!
We are all just to busy trying to get on with life.
It's like the land the time forgot !

To be honest, I am not in any way shocked at this.

To be honest, I am not in any way shocked at this.
Nor am i, don't that just show how bad society is, that we ain't shocked at the idea that a family ( well many family's) will be burned out of their house , in a European Union country in the year 2005 , for no reason other than a basic belief ?
This is the "west" not some two bit dictator run country, we are "civilised" !
It's shocking that it's not shocking !!!

It really is a sad state of affairs up there. such a wast of time an energy. And the worst part is that it only comes back to bite them in the end.. What goes around comes around. With that sort of thing going on so many companies will look to setting up/expanding someplace else. So jobs never happen.
Very sad indeed.
I think it might be time for the white sheets again Kits E Kat. Is that dog still available.?
It would not take long.. once they all had a common enemy it would all get forgotten.
It is really odd for someone like me working or visiting up there. I have an English accent but I likes Guinness. They cant make head nor tail out of that.
When I say Galway is home they just dont know whether to throw me out or buy me another pint.
Joking aside.. it is a shame..

So the police are handing out blankets and smoke detectors? Is that like the sherrif in the old west handing out running shoes to people about to be lynched? Better tie a double not in them sneakers son, looks like there's unlawfulness afoot!
Gee thanks for the blankets, maybe if you run across some law enforcement officials you can ask them to help us out!

The last time i was in Belfast i was in a bar in the center of town, on the way to the loo an elderly gentleman called me a "fenian bastard" the guy was about 70 or so, they are barking mad up there !!!
That WAS the last time i wen't there, will never cross that border again , ever.
Is there not a "target specific" nuclear bomb that we can "clean" up the mess in that hole of a province, we can plant tulips or something in it's place :-)

(fhttp://www.bartleby.com/images/pronunciation/emacr.gif´nhttp://www.bartleby.com/images/pronunciation/emacr.gifhttp://www.bartleby.com/images/pronunciation/schwa.gifn) (KEY (http://www.bartleby.com/65/12.html)) or Fenians, secret revolutionary society organized c.1858 in Ireland and the United States to achieve Irish independence from England by force. It was known variously as the Fenian Brotherhood, Fenian Society, Irish Republican Brotherhood, and Irish-American Brotherhood. The name derives from the ancient Irish Fenians, a professional military corps that roamed over ancient Ireland (c.3d cent.) in the service of the high kings. They figure in the legends that developed around Finn mac Cumhail (http://www.bartleby.com/65/fi/FinnmacC.html) and Ossian (http://www.bartleby.com/65/os/Ossian.html).
