Our so called Minister for Justice just signed a treaty with the US, it will help in the fight against "terror" !

Article : http://www.irishexaminer.com/pport/web/ireland/Full_Story/did-sg46g7Ks0cvBEsg7OWirIStPSk.asp

It includes :
To track down people in Ireland.

Transfer prisoners in Irish custody to the US.

Carry out searches and seize evidence on behalf of the US Government.

It also allows US authorities access to an Irish suspect's confidential bank information. The Irish authorities must keep all these activities secret if asked to do so by the US.

The person who will request co-operation is US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the man who, as White House counsel, instigated the notorious 'torture memo' to US President George W Bush which advised how far CIA agents could go in torturing prisoners. The person to whom the request is sent is the Minister for Justice.

Also the FBI can "interview" people here , all this will be kept secret.

This applies to many European country's as thing's stand , we just added ourselves to the list :-(

It's only a matter of time before i get picked up by the local police , banged up in a room and interviewed by the FBI , for my "acitvity" on a certain subversive site ( HH :-) ) , what am i gonna tell em !!!
"I don't know nothin" :-)

This is not a good day !

I hear you Kitz and I feel for you!
But all you've done is have the same name as other names that have posted on some other sites.

If it's any consolation I know how slack the inter-government relationship is. Even with the power of instant communictions.
Saying that it might be time for a bit of spring cleaning?

Good fortune mate

Holy shite,
That is bad show.. What happened to Irish neutrality and talking to the people and all that.
We should have signed up for US membership back in the 60s when it was offered. At least then we would have goten some payback.
I would have probably been in the US army or something..:frocket:
Na lets go back further and get the French to invade us properly. At least then we would have good food.:014:
But then we would not have the black necture of the gods:icon_jook

Jokes aside that is a real shame on us as an independent country. Whatever we have to swallow from the EU it is a shame to give such a big power a direct line right through us.
Cooperation is one thing but this is a bit more.

Not a good sign.

Yeah it's bad!
You can now be picked up by the FBI in Ireland just as easy as you would if you were in the US .
They now rule US :-(

Worse , it will all be done in secret .

Yes, KK, very scary stuff indeed, but at least you have the Atlantic Ocean between you and the Excited States. Here in Canada we have managed to maintain our sovereignty and very different values , even though there is only a pencil line on a map dividing the two countries. I don't know how the poor UK has been held in such a tight orbit with Bush-the-younger's deranged foreign policies, but I am proud of Canada's courage in rejecting the enormous pressure to join the "coalition of the willing".

Whatever comes after the reign of George-the-second, assuming we survive, can only be better. As regards the old Feed Bag Information, they have produced at least one useful agent - Mark Felt or "Deep Throat" as he was known. Now if we could only get hold of the Bush tapes!

Sovereign Cheers!

A grandson, Nick Jones, read a statement. “The family believes that my grandfather, Mark Felt Sr., is a great American hero who went well above and beyond the call of duty at much risk to himself to save his country from a horrible injustice,” it said. “We all sincerely hope the country will see him this way as well.”

Amen!

Yeah =BB= , it's not good.

It's nice to know that our government "will not be found wanting" in the fight against terror.
That makes me sleep better at night :-(

Lock up your fast food chains and oil derricks boys, we're comin for ya!

So much for "non-interference". Anyone remember a time when the goverment wouldn't extend its influence beyond its own citizens?

...

Me either.

This is so sickening, I don't have the words to articulate it.

Sorry guys.

Holy crap!

What does this mean for the guys in the North of Ireland who have been pissed off about the English occupancy? Are they gonna start blowin us up now too?

I can here it already,

"Americans out of North Ireland now!"

I wonder what Sinn Fein will have to say about this?

No probs. SH, everyone here knows that Bush was not properly elected the first time around, and at least half you guys didn't buy into his shite this time. We are all burned on the same stove! At least our semi-legal weed, gay marriage, universal free health care and mostly sane government remains intact.

come the revolution cheers ;) ! (didja see Land Of The Dead ? at the end the good guys escape the zombie chaos by running off to Canada , hehehe)

I think it was a game called Red Alert I used to play some time ago.
The video clips that made up the story line keep jumping to mind..
Has anyone got access to them..?
It was full of conspiracy and counter conspiracy.. and then also just taking advantage of the situation and enforcing a law or 10 that gave unusual liberty removing controlling powers.

Am I just starting to smell the coffee. ? Or has it been somewhat like this all along.?
