Nobody was better than The Lone Ranger!

"A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Ho Silver! The Lone Ranger! With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early West.

Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear!"

What are your fondest and earliest memories of television?

Cheers! http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I loved that show as a kid. My parents were a bit disconcerted that their 3 year old boy preferred MASH over cartoons or sesame street.

Hawkeye Pierce was a uncommon boyhood idol I'm sure. ;)

Well it was in Black and White when i was a nipper!
Colour was unheard off , the TV was only on for a few hour's in the evening, not 24/7 like it is now.
Honestly , for some strange reason the damm thing always wen't on the blink over Christmass.
One year a guy called Herbie came around to fix it , i was only a kid , but thought that wrapping a fuse in foil and stickin it back in was a bit dodgy, turned out i was right , about an hour after he left , smoke everywhere :-)
Herbie was cheap!

Really nobody cared what was on the TV , it's was an awesome sight to see, regardless of content.

My Father came home one day with a screen you put in front of the TV to make it into a colour TV , it made everything look blue !!!!
Totally cool :-)

There ain't no fun in TV no more .......

I'm with ya Kitz - ignore them young whipper-snappers, we'll show them a thing or two. *insert insane old cackle here*
But do you remember "portable" TV's that sat on rickety aluminum rolling frames? Sneeze too hard and the the whole thing was coming down?
Or how about travelogues? Where there was a guest who made bad films about places nobody really cared about? Don't know if "George Perrot" was available in your area but my dad always watched his show.
Good grief, this whole thread makes me feel old!

Howdy Doody and Lassie were among my earliest TV faves. My granny was the first in her area to get a tv. My parents drove over to my grandparents house the day the TV arrived, and my grandfather was on the roof lashing the antenna to the chimney. When I asked my father what his father was doing, he said-"Making something for Santa to hold on to."

Of course all TVs were b&w, and housed in big wooden cases that sat on the floor. The screens were always rounded at the corners, and even in bigger cities you were lucky to get more than two channels. No cable, no remote and only a few commercials . . mostly for soaps and breakfast cereals.

Oh, and my grandmother announced that she would never marry Alfred Hitchcock, based on seeing his mystery theatre program - she really hated poor Alfred, but never missed the show!

ancient cheers!
