Whats up with the difference in how people generally view sex and ESPECIALLY nudity in these regions?

Does it have to do with religion?

I think that ultimately it does. The US had the puritans, who left Europe because the people there were intollerant of their extreme "moral" behavior, as a founding group. I think that has impacted everything the US has done to this day. At times I find it quite frustrating - the fuss over Janet Jackson's boob comes to mind.

On the other hand, you have a country like India which imposes very strict behavior/moral controls, but who's religious sites are covered with scenes of nudity, a people who wrote the Kama Sutra...

So maybe it's just idiocy and not religion?
