There are now 3 blue whale carcasses that have drifted ashore on the west coast. Please consider the following:
This is coincidental with the US Navy testing the “Super-Sonar” in this area.
At least one whale suffered blunt trauma.
Collisions between whales and vessels of any size along the migration path are rare
No ship in the area has reported a collision
A blast of Super-Sonar could cause the loss of natural sonar in a healthy whale
Similar to a person being deafened by a loud noise or being blinded by a bright flash
The loss could be permanent or temporary depending upon strength and duration of exposure
Blunt trauma is consistent with the loss of natural sonar in a whale
They are essentially blind and deaf with no sonar
Could panic and collide with ships or natural formations at high speed causing massive injuries
At least one blue whale was decapitated
Since the ‘neck’ of a blue whale is almost the thickest part, what could decapitate it?
The bodies were not unduly savaged by sharks, therefore decapitation by predators is highly unlikely
How probable is the following scenario?:
US Navy deliberately tested Super-Sonar on a small pod
The Super-Sonar adversely affected the pod
The Navy harvested the head to determine what the Super-Sonar did to the whale
I feel that further investigation by 3rd parties is advisable.
Ok - what do you think? Is this another industrial/military screw-up? what is going on. Getting 3 whales dead, one decapitated, all at the same time is really kind of odd.
