We haven't had a poll on the forum yet, so here goes.

Should the rest of the world get involved in Lybia's civil war? It was purely the people vs their government.

Granted, the leader is a despotic idiot, however does that give other countries the right to side with the rebels and attack the Lybian government? What kind of precedent does that set? Could then China attack the US during our next election because they don't like Obama?

Where does human rights and decency outweigh national sovereignty?

Very good question! I think the no fly zone is a good idea as no matter what you think an aircraft can kill hundreds in seconds.
Mr G has them at his disposal and would seem happy to use them to kill anybody against him.
At least with them out of the way they can have a proper fight! But after that the UN and the rest should leave 'em to it.

I voted, I don't want to get involved. Here is my reasoning... I understand the plight of the people. I understand the injustices that have been rained down upon the people by as D puts it, "despotic idiot", however, people really need to stand up for themselves and fight. This is their civil war, should they win the day, they are able to appreciate better what they have just gotten for themselves and the sacrifices they have made.

I notice that the US is characterizing it's attack as merely enforcing the "no fly" rule (a UN rule, not a US rule). If that is so, then I'm still on board with it. But I do worry about the precedent we're setting.

Don't get involved, I think this should be left to the people for the people. When other Nations get involved, to me they are just going to have their own hidden agendas as always, once that's done the real reason this all started in the first place will just be forgotten.
