That bloke might be a nob but he's just given me an idea - LET'S HAVE A PHOTO CONTEST!
We could say, run it for a month and (going with the tone of the forum) the most random picture wins! Not stuff you find online, it would have to be an original, taken during the month of the "competition". Members could submit pics over the course of the month, then we have a vote on who wins.
Wadda ya think?

Interesting idea !
But there would have to be some "structure" to it.
I would suggest that there would have to be some topic, or angle to it.
So , it would have to be a picture of "x" where "x" is the subject or topic of the contest, if you get me ?
So it could be a car, or a bike, or mountain ,or a kitchen sink tap or whatever.
But that every entry would in some way meet the critera of the "contest" .
Now if your where to ask me who would select the subject matter I would say the big D himself!
Why? Well cos you know he would not make it easy :-)

Stand by while I engage my perverted intellect....BTW -- did you know that I had a pornographic memory? - I just don't have a pornograph to play it on.
I will select a topic shortly.

My mate Dave down the pub said he'd get you one for 20 quid. I would sell you mine but it's in heavy daily use! :eusa_danc

lol @ Daremo
Anyway, I just got back from holidays to Switzerland. We made quite some pics, so I say; let's do the contest.
Here are my entries:

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6408/13juli009eu4.th.jpg (http://img412.imageshack.us/my.php?image=13juli009eu4.jpg)
Both of them are Switzerland; the first one is the Aletsj Gletsjer (it was snowing, I think that caused the blueish tint), the second a lake in Derborance.

@ Spoofed - amazing pictures!
For the rest of us, I've seen some of the pictures Matt took near where he lives that would stand up to Spoofed pics just as well. You may not see the beauty because you're looking at the wrong things. Take a step back and look at your surroundings with fresh eyes. A city can be as beautiful as a mountain - just in a completely different way. How many people don't go see the "tourist trap" areas near where they live because it's local and so couldn't possibly be of any real interest? I am constantly amazed by the number of "native" Californians who have never gone to the La Brea tar pits or driven to the Valley of Fire park just outside of Las Vegas because it's not exotic enough.

Very well spoken, MrsMo! I live in the Netherlands. Loads of people come here because there are no mountains. Personally, I don't understand why: myself, I love mountains, I don't ilke the flatness. In fact, as I look out of the window, I can see huge fields with grass and cows. But since I see it every single day, I'm not impressed.

Sweet :)
When I take pics, I make hundreds of them. On holidays, I've made 751 pics. Of those pictures, there were about 4 pictures I actually liked, of which 2 I put on here. I have to say, there were a few "personal" pictures, but not that many really.
Yet somehow I doubt you have a good-pic-chance of 0.5%. I've seen some pics of you earlier, and if you have such a low percentage, you'd have to spent about 25/7 making pics ;-).
Yeah, nice pics... I won't stand a chance in the contest, except by extreme luck, but still... I'll join the contest. Albeit just for fun.

Same here. I love my digital camera, lets me delete the clinkers before I even download them to the computer - which lets me continue deleting the ones I couldn't tell were bad until I saw them full sized. I don't tend to take many pictures of people either, probably because most people I would like to take pictures of don't want their picture taken.

Very nice. :D In picture 13/14, were you using a wide angle lens or was the picture cropped to get that aspect ratio?
Here's one of my recent favourites. Not a great picture but happy memories from Eastern Haze (http://www.easternhaze.com) last weekend!
