Heard this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/6449495.stm)on the radio on the way home tonight.

Three guys, who were jailed for crimes they did not commit, were all released from prison and awarded compensation. Then the jail says that all three have to pay for board and lodging for their time in prison to the tune of 25% of their compensation.

It's not like they were on holiday (I'm led to believe that jails are for punishment) and they definately weren't there by choice. Quite frankly this ruling by the house of lords stinks.

That is one of the most unfair things I've ever heard of. These men weren't jailed overnight - they were put away for years for crimes they didn't commit. In effect, they were kidnapped by the government and now that same government is requiring them to pay for the privilege of being kidnapped. Outrageous!

That is insane, where does that end ?
If you get lifted and do an overnight in the cop shop "helping them with their inquires" will you get a bill for overnight bed and breakfast ????

I am sure if that was appealed to the EU court it would be overturned.

I hope it goes that far and it is overturned.
