This is sad... If you look at the attached picture you see that these people have posted the "Hell's Most Wanted List". The sad part is their choices.
Most of these choices are really pretty mild. Come on...
Pot-Smokers, There goes all of the Netherlands.
Sports-Fans, Do they mean ALL men or just those that watch Women's basketball?
Porn-Lovers, Does this mean we must shut down the entire internet?
Liars / Hypocrites, All governments around the world would instantly disappear.
Now, let's consider what they DIDN'T put on their list:
Genocide, I guess the Lord approves of killin all them Sports-Fans and Pagans
Murderers, Kill for Jesus and go straight to Heaven.
Rapists, It's a sin to fornicate which implies mutual consent, but rape is OK.
Lawyers, For God's sake they forgot LAWYERS!!!
I have found that in my experience the "Moral Majority" is neither. Is it just me or does it seem that most hard line religious fundamentalists are rather intolerant of ANYONE that does not think and believe EXACTLY like them?

I'm on that list , under several headings :-)
Work this out :
Thousands of people are killed by some unnatural method, starvation , earthquake war , whatever.
Ask these guy's why did god let this happen, they'll tell ya "it's god's will" .
OK i can cope with than, but !
What about the drunkard, sports fan, lesbien or gay, and why are they "like" that , god made them that way did'nt he ? Eh , no, we got free will !!!!
He made us all in his own image , except , sports fan's , gays , lesbien's, and people that use thier hands to put a smile on thier face :-)
You can't have it both way's .

Ever since our fearless leader was re-elected I've noticed an increase in what I like to call "Christian griefing". I belive this picture to be exactly that.
Christian griefing in my definition is perpatrated by anti-Christians who take a Christian view point and skew it so radically, it becomes offensive. Granted, many Christian edicts are inflamatory all by themselves but the Christian griefer has special skill in making things look as bad as possible. There are dozens of websites that "preach the Gospel" when it fact they're just bad parodies but they're subtle enough that most people don't realize they're parodies and instantly cringe at the message and people get that "All Christians are fucktards" idea in the back of their head.
So I posit this billboard was sponsored by an Anti-Christian group or maybe even and Anti-G.W.Bush group.
Either that or they're just whackjobs. Hell, I live in the Bible belt and there ain't no denyin' there are some whackjob Christians out here who would probably cheer at the sight of that billboard.
Examples of a Christian griefing sites:

Nice work Rikku :-)
It is all a bit odd , Jesus came amongst us many years ago, some followers wrote about the things he did and said.
David Koresh came amongst us and the FBI blew the shit out of him :-)
I guess Jesus was lucky the FBI were not around in them day's.
Point is anyone try spin a yarn along the lines of the Bible and we all call them nutcases and wacko's , rightly so , did anyone ever think that Jesus could just have been the first documented wacko ?
I can delete the cat porn, possibly stop making myself happy with my paws, but stop drinkin ? Never , god gave us all this lovely drink , i must be gracious and drink it :-)

Well, Rikku all I can say to your comment is you have some serious built up hidden tensions within yourself, seek help! :P
As for the radical Christians. I do tend to agree. If any of you have read some of my posts, you know I'm a Christian at heart. Radical? Whats your perception of radicalism?
Do I go around flaunting a sign saying if you do this your going to hell? Hell no. For the most part, I believe that these people that go out and do the "scare tactic" method are pretty much whack jobs. I don't like flaming any type of organized religion, whos to say mine is right..But in saying that the mormins who go house to house passing out pamphlets. A religion based upon the "Angel of Light" coming down and giving 1 guy some golden spectacles to read the "True" readings of the Bible sounds kind of fishy.
Kitz mentioned "Was Jesus just the first whack job?"..Well I don't see David Koresh feeding thousands of people with a loaf of bread and fish. I must have missed the CNN broadcast of when he died, he was resurrected and people had seen him (EVIL!!!)...I also must have missed the miracles he performed like bringing someone back to life (he must have had some CPR techniques right?).. Or restoring the hearing and sight to someone blind.
My point being is, in all honesty, there is no hard evidence that any religion is correct. Or if any religions are correct at all. What does this mean? Well being a Christian does not mean you can't live your life. Say for a second that there really was NO GOD, there never was, we were created by the big bang theory and we are all a mistake. We die, we are dead. What if I lived my life causing pain and agony amongst other people, not bettering the society, not speaking my views, not learning what I want to learn, and living my life as a "bad" person. Nothing. When I'm dead I'm dead right?
What if I live my life being a "Good" person. Bettering others around me, having a great family and wife, basing morals and integrity off of the Bible. Good thing to teach your kids right? So when I die I'm dead? Right? Well what about my kids. When they live their lives are they going to live it with raping pillaging and plundering? Or are they going to live it with good morals and integrity?
Sure, a lot of this can be done through not believing in god. Living your life as a good person, but it always helps, especially for young tikes to have a belief.
Now, lets get off of the "I don't believe in God" kick. Which religion is right? Are any of them? Who knows. Honestly, I believe the one that makes the most sense, that has the most factual coorlation with bibilical texts.
As for the radicalists, it happens in EVERY religion, look at the "terrorists" and the "freedom fighters"..Those are all forms of radicalism in religion. The Quran' is actually a very peaceful teaching. The warped sense of reality these "terrorists" have but it into different context.
Its going to come with anything you get with relgion in all honesty. Your gonna see it on both sides.
Rikku, in all honesty man..Seek help :P Not for religion but with personal morals.

Hang on a second, I'm the one that needs help? And here's you every Sunday talking to the invisible man in the sky!?!? It doesnt take a brain surgeon to work out that people talking to invisible men are insane! Jesus Christ! Woops was that blasphemy? And I give a shit! Come on people, the bible was a good story, but thats all it is, a damn story! What makes it differant from any other story? How about we all make shrines to Gandalf the Great?? And if you do something you enjoy like drinking or gambling your going to Mordor!! Oh no! MOOORDORRR!!!! :096: What's the differance? apart from the fact the "Bible" is a few years older...You remember back in school when someone told you something like "I won £10 in a competition!" and by the time it gets around its ends up like "Wow, he's the guy that won £10,000,000 on the Lotto!!" Well think of the "Bible" like that, a rumor that started thousands of years ago and since has escalated to something quite tragic! And the worst part is when people belive the rumors!!
I personally think that if/when they invent a time machine they should bring this "Jesus" bloke back (if he really did exist at all!) to the present day and say look what the world has become because of you! And he will probably say "Shit! And all I did was give a man a bit of wine and some bread!" FEEDING THOUSANDS HE WAS!! Just like that kid in the playground that just won £10,000,000!! He's a hero damnit!! Build churches worldwide, start wars!! Worship invisible men, THIS KID WON £10,000,000!! And he spent it on what? Awww he bought his mum some flowers did he?...HE SUMMONED UP MILLIONS OF FLOWERS FROM THE EARTH!!!! WORSHIP HIM OR GO TO HELLLLLL!!!!!

Good exchange, kick a man's religion and all sorts of things happen....
History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it. ReLik...
This is a forum for lively exchanges -- there was no personal attacks that I identified as such. Rikku is perporting to be an athiest. Such viewpoints are common, and we all know the old joke about "what's the point of an Atheist funeral they're just all dressed up with no place to go".
You are obviously a Christian. In actuality, so am I. However I think Rikku's last post was pretty funny about Gandalf and Mordor. How about the "Church of Saint Elvis of the Blue Suede Shoes"?
I find that if one takes one's own beliefs so seriously that you can't take a joke or argue an opposing point, then perhaps either you don't fully understand your own position or it may not be as defensable as you once thought.
Even if it is not defensable, religion is a matter of faith. I choose to beleive in the big invisible guy in the sky even though I've never spoken personally to a burning bush. Whatever Rikku says it won't shake my faith, it may cause me to re-evaluate some of my concepts, but for me - the big invisible guy is still there. When I look at the universe I see too much that is too precise to not have behind it the hand of an architect.
I also believe in a Diety that has a HUGE sense of humor. Look at the platypus!! If there was ever a creature designed to totally screw over a biologists classification systems, that's it. Had to be a joke. Therefore God ain't gonna kick my ass for having a brew, looking at a pretty girl or smoking a joint. After all, Jesus drank wine and God made both the girl and the weed.
I believe it's what one does with one's life that matters. I fought in a war and killed people, lots of people, one at a time (usually) and up close and personal sometimes. I have stolen, lied, cheated and broken just about all the 10 commandments. I have to answer for that. I have also saved lives, given to the needy (not to a charity), tried to help the young not to make my mistakes and love and protect my family. Hell I haven't killed anybody in 10 years (well there was that ONE guy in the restroom in Oklahoma City, but I was never certain that he actually DID die). I also get to answer for those things.
I don't believe that one mistake wipes out all the good. I also believe that a man who has lived a good life and done all the things one would attribute to a 'Godly' man, even though he might be a 'pagan' or of a non-Christian faith, will be embraced by the Diety and creator of us all.
I also believe that there is one God and it doesn't matter whether you call him Jehova, Yahweh, Adonai, Allah, Buddah or the 'Big Invisible Guy', it's all the same guy.
These views make me a heretic and a blasphemer to most Christian sects. However I can't see my vision of a 'Loving God' condemning a man to eternal damnation for just not praying in the approved way in the approved building.
This site is for the free exchange of ideas and ideologies. Don't get upset if not all people here embrace or respect your beliefs.

Rikku, I didn't say anything after your first post because for the most part I agree there are too many Bible thumping, fire and brimstone types. I was raised baptist and I still belive a majority of what I was taught even though now I tend to lean toward deism if anything.
I'm not going to flame you for flaming someone else but if you're going to make an attempt to discredit Christianity you should at least have a better basic understanding of it.
There are in fact historical documents that proved Jesus was indeed a "real person". Most of them are recorded by his enemies the Romans and the Jews who got him cruicified. So we know he was a man we just don't know if he's the "Son of God". That's where the faith thing comes in.
I like Kitz's question "Was Jesus the first documented whacko?" in fact that's something I ask people all the time when they engage me in a religous debate.
The way I see it, Jesus was either the Messiah or a Madman. All you have to do is weigh the evidence on both sides of the argument and decide for yourself. There is a lot of information out there that supports both claims.
My suggestion to you is learn a bit more about it and if you're going to make the assertion it IS in fact nonesense, have some good arguments to back it up.

relik , you don't quit a forum because you disagree with some comment's someone made, you post in defence of your position and who know's you just may help in adjusting someone's point of view :-)
Rikku has a point of view , some of which i would subscribe to myself, i do think that Jesus was an early nut job , with an awesome publicity crew, simple acts have been blown out of all proportion over the years.
Every so often someone "sees" something in a wall or some place and hundred's flock to it , do you take every such incedent seriously ?
I don't , pretty much most folk don't , if Jesus came today , he would have one hell of a job trying to convience anyone that he was the son of God.
Truth is he would be locked up.
I checked out some of the links in Syntax's thread , some really mad people out there , one lot thinks Tampon's are the work of the devil :-)
They read the bible as it was written, and believe every word, they are quite insane, they have 140.000 odd members !
The catholic chruch one day say's one thing , and another thing the next day, you got to remember that all these churches and belief's are the work of our fellow citizens , with no more a clue than me what is out there.
Religion is all guess work..............
I choose not to "devote" myself to one man's guess as opposed to another man's.
The key is to live a good life , help those that you can, abuse nobody that did'nt deserve it ! , and you should be cool :-)

I wasn't upset by the post but showing proof and evidence to people like that doesn't make a bit of good. The ideologies that cloud their beliefs are the same reason why the proof isn't good enough. It will never be good enough. Jesus could come down in a big ball of flames over the sky yelling I'm god, and it would be a "unexplained phenomena that is natural occuring", the "proof" wouldn't be good enough. Which is fine.
Yea, its obvious I'm a Christian. Do I sit in a public meeting with a bible and preach outloud? No. Do I go to Church, sure. Thats about all I do.
I am a firm believer if your a generally "good" person you'll get to whatever life has to offer where you die anyways. Which is what most Christians do not believe.
The reason I had previously stated I would stop posting, I meant on this thread. Getting into religion is like pulling teeth. Or like agreeing with what Bush has done in Iraq.
I've killed several people myself, some staring me in the face...It happens. It was me or him, do I regret it? Nope. Do I think I'm going to hell for it? Nah.

Sorry, I think if he had said all black people should burn on a KKK cross, or all jews deserved to die when Hitler was around, or Sadaam should have killed the rest of the Kurds, that might have been a personal attack to one of those groups? Or does he have to completely go out and say burn Relik for being a christian?

Well, you have a point. I can see where you may take that as a personal affront. While I'm a Christian, I did not take it as an attack at me. Maybe I understand Rikku a bit better than you. I honestly think Rikku didn't mean you or I personally. Perhaps Rikku meant the group of fundamentalists who condemn sports fans to hell.
Plus all he said was 'rot' -- that really can't be put in the same class as 'burn them at the stake' or 'put them in gas chambers'. I really can't lump 'rot' as a threat of violence. It's way to slow and impersonal. Heck, you could rot from trench foot.
But I see your point...

Uuughh.. trench foot. My roommate had that after a CAX in 29 Palms. Dear God! The stench nearly knocked me over. There was flesh falling of his foot in large clumps and hitting the floor with a moistened *splat*.

Hell no it wasnt personal, its just aimed at those damned OTT people, its sad! I didnt mean to cause such a stir, thats just the way i view things, besides I was having a bad day after being ill and then my 200gig SATA died on me right in the middle of a game of Guild Wars...yeah and then I stood on a thumbtack! So that didn't help things...as for the "black people should burn on a KKK cross, or all jews deserved to die when Hitler was around" yeah these things interest me too to be honest, I called called a Nazi mother fucker all the time, hell I dont give a shit!
But ya know I have alot of freinds that are christian and a few are Jehovas witnesses, it's just a topic of conversation we don't like to get into! ;)

The reason people 'talk to an invisible person' is because all people have the capacity to be spiritual, it's just some take it in different directions. The problems in modern society lead different people to seek different explanations and solutions. Some follow a religion, others choose drink, or drugs.
If believing in a God helps them, then it is a positive thing. It just gets nasty when people try to force their beliefs on others
If the individual is following their chosen path in a productive and uplifiting manner, then why insult them for their beliefs. While it is true that there are atrocities committed in the name of (insert name of deity), the vast majority of followers of a religion wish to go about their lives peacefully. Trouble only happens when people at the top corrupt the teachings of their belief system for their own selfish ends
