From the BBC:
People around the world are coming together today to celebrate the world wide web.
Susan Crawford, the founder of OneWebDay, said she wanted people to reflect on how the web had changed their lives.

So how has the web changed our lives? Is it really for the better? Where do we go next?

The information available is mind boggling. When I found out I was diabetic I was able to turn to the net for answers which have helped me so much I don't need any medication to control the disease. This is the same disease that a little over a decade ago killed my mother - because she didn't have any of the information I have now.
On top of that is the ability to connect to people around the world. I never would have met any of you if we didn't have the internet. Now I can find out what people around the world think about both world shaking events and the little events that shape our daily lives (Kitz likes a girl at a local shop who has just been replaced by a self-checkout kiosk). I have moved 2500 miles away from the rest of my family but can stay in daily contact through email, live chat and images uploaded instantly.
Searching for a hard-to-find replacement part or a new job - they're right there at your fingertips.
It's amazing.

No internet , no kit's arcade game cabinet! The whole thing was/is being done with the aid of the internet.
The amount of stuff I have bought over the internet ain't funny, all sort's of stuff that would be hard or impossible to buy over here, from books , CD's, DVD's to custom made boots from El Paso :-)
And as noted by Mrs Mo, the amount of info out there is just awesome it's never ending , all I know about computers is from the net.
Of course there is D.org and the ability to meet and chat with people you never met, in places you have never been to, it is a window into the world of others that makes the world a very small place to be.
And let's not forget the greatest thing about the internet, the willingness of people to help each other out in technical and other forums all for free!
Where else would you get that ....
I could go on and on and on about how great the internet is.
But what prehaps is even more amazing is the amount of people I know that hardly use it ever, they have no purpose for it ( as they see it) .
That amazes me ..............
Roll on the internet, greatest invention ever :-)
