I quote from the BBC: A woman has been jailed for two years after admitting hiding "a mini encyclopaedia of weapons-making" in a USB device in the sleeve of her burka.
Houria Chahed Chentouf, 41, admitted two counts of possessing documents likely to be useful for a terrorist purpose, at Manchester Crown Court.
Ok, this woman was sentenced because she had documents that were freely available on the internet in her possession on a USB stick.
Absolutely nothing that she had was a government secret or, in fact, secret at all. They were stuff you can get everyday with a 15-minute Google search.
Does the lesson of the Nazi book burnings mean nothing at all in the UK? Next is the Great Firewall of Briton, let's ban the net or censor it into pablum.
Hell, what else is is "likely to be used for a terrorist purpose"? Why this is so loose that absolutely anything could be construed to be a violation. If you ban one thing it's only a matter of time before you ban everything.
I guess in the UK the government wants to live in the "Brave New World" of "1984".

Not yet, but mind what you say... I'd hate to see the firefighters come by and burn some books as well...
The screen is telling me to do things... Whats a guy to do? Do I listen to the telly or the voices in my head??

Here's the BBC story : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/manchester/8337754.stm
You don't wander the streets of the UK with that kind of info on your person unless you have a good ( legit) reason.
This legislation goes back to the good old days of the IRA, they passed laws to make it easier to prosecute people that where involved in conspiracy to cause explosions.

Why not?
Knowledge being power and the ability to abuse that power, is that what people are afraid of?
With very few household chemicals or even heating elements, an 3xpl0s1ve3 can be made, but hey, we won't know because that kind of information could get you arrested.

Yup, a mate of mine from school kicked a bloke to death one night when pissed (the bloke had been wrongly accused of being a paedo but that didn't bother my mate, the idiot) and when it came up to court the Procurator Fiscal charged him with murder and theft - to wit one set of false teeth owned by the victim that were found in my mates possession. The theft charge was just in case something fell through with the murder charge, but nothing fell through and my mate's doing life. And rightly so.
I really don't like this case at all. They don't have anything else to go on or to charge her with.
"The Crown accept there was no intention of putting it into practical use," said the judge.
Wtf????? I've got a chemistry book in the house somewhere and the odds and sods of a slightly pyro-maniacal youth.
Probably shouldn't type that...wait is that the door?

Should see the scuff marks from the jackboots.:pIf they're on the floor, a bit of elbow grease will remove them; if they're on your person... time heals all?

Well you don't cause you will get banged up!
To be fair to the Brits they have had the shit bombed out of em by the IRA for years, so it's (IMHO) fair and reasonable to adopt such a stance.
Sure there is a freedom of information and all that and I agree with ya, but fact is it's against the law to have such info on ya in the UK, that is the way it is, that's the way it's gonna be, she broke the law, end off !!
Would seem my catch phrase today is "end off" :-)
