Just when we think we've checked out the whole planet, An international team of scientists says it has found a "lost world" in the Indonesian jungle that is home to dozens of new animal and plant species.

It begs the question: How much do we really know about the world around us?
Most of the worlds oceans have yet to be explored and there are still remote regions of our planet that have yet to see a human footprint. Who knows what these areas may hold. Cures for cancer, AIDS and much more are all possiblities.
This is why it is SO important that we listen our delicate planet's state of distress and do something about it. New Scientist's Special Report (http://www.newscientist.com/channel/earth/climate-change) on climate change lays down the facts.
So go on, turn off those extra lights in your house and leave the car in the drive for that walk or cycle to work you've been promising yourself! You're a human being for goodness sake! You should be able to covey yourself from A-B under your own power!
This is my ride: (I don't have a car and I'm 27!)

Only difference is mine has no rack at the back and I have GPS via my pocket PC on the handlebars
Someone please show me how to do thumbnails!

Dude, I have turned off the light's in the house, fell down the stairs :-(
Took my very dusty bike out for a spin, not having used if for some time, the battery's in the light's were flat, got hit by a 40 ton truck :-(
So, battered and bruised I went for a walk, what could go wrong !!
Well the bastard's left a manhole cover off , fell into an open sewer :-(
So you don't mind if I turn the light's back on, put the bike back in the shed, and cruise around in my tasty truck :-)
Thanks !

Dude! Get some lights! I've got a 24 LED headlight that light's up a country lane a treat and can be seen from over 500m away. That really is a poor excuse!
And Kitz, all that beer must be going somewhere, I have a six pack, looks like you've got the whole barrel! :p

Who needs em? My war-riding sessions with a pocket PC are far more discreet! And if I do need to carry more stuff, I have a trailer that clips on the back. I've carried everything from desktops to a full size gas barbeque (no shit!).

You're welcome mate. What would this board be without a bit of ribbin! :)

i understand about wanting to drive a vehicle and turn on the lights. but come on material wealth (vehicles) isnt shit. i had a brand new extended cab truck and i loved it. but i sold it becuase i didnt need a vehicle. i like to walk. as for the light thing. i prefer the lights off. the only reason for that is that i like the dark. i nailed blankets over all my windows so no light would come in. but do whatever the hell u want because we are all individuals and we are different. so lights on everybody. as for me lights out.

Unfortunately you're using the biggest technology ( PC ) so the big light will blind you from Windows (xp).
I would prefer to live on a village where there is no electric and the air is cleaner, where they still lights with candles ..you will for sure live long like 100 years? ..unfortunately i can't live without my PC.
But ..If i would have been living on the past and if i was a Sherif or something..I would deny the researching on technology.
I really would do that!
If you see from my point of view the tech ,you would understand why!
Tech is really bullshit ..its like a simulation of life which you don't need..I would do calculations on a papper with a pencil ( not a pen ) rather than calculating with a a PC under Windows (xp).
But we have to keep going with the time.
A time would come when the robots would do every single job for you.
You know what that means?
All you would do is stay and watch.By the time your legs would get paralyzed..I just got this idea of the future while i was deeply analyzing the Telecommand of my TV. get me!
Anyway its just my thoughts and I am only the last straw on the ocean.

Yeah, well it would be probably quicker to do it by hand than XP :-)
But I think you just have to make technology work for you, and not the other way around.
Sometime's that is easier said than done, but for example you got learn how to turn of the mobile/cell phone, and not be a slave to it !
I could live without it all except the net, no net , no life :-)
No online shopping for cool thing's you can't get here, no reading Rikku's putdown's of Radical Ed, don't wan't to think about it !!

Thank the powers that be for technology! I can share ideas with people anywhere on the globe from my living room. Doctors can find treatments for ailments that they haven't handled before. Children can talk to people living in places identified as antithetical to their nation - perhaps learning that they have much in common and helping lower the level of hatred between their countries.
Yes, cars/trucks are noisy, smelly, pollution creating machines that need to be used less. Yes, the production of electricity is often a messy, polluting process. Yes, people are not getting the exercise they need because they are using these machines to fetch something from a place they could have easily gotten to with just a little extra effort on their part. But the fault is people's not technology's. You've got the right idea, using a bike as much as possible, but for some that isn't practical for everyday living - jobs too far away or over difficult terrain - but that's where people need to use the most efficient vehicle they can. (I would love to see a regulation that you need to prove you need that SUV before you can buy one... and an additional tax on them would not be out of line - like the heavy extra taxes on alcohol and cigarettes.)
We really CAN "have our cake and eat it too!"
