So, do you make a New Year's resolution? Have you ever made one and actually stuck with it? What is (or might be, if you were the resolution making type) your resolution for this year?
I usually fall into the group that never makes resolutions, but this year I'm actually going to shoot for one. I'm going to try and find some ladies to socialize with. This is going to be harder for me than it sounds, as I'm not very typical of my sex. So I need to find ladies who are also atypical and, by definition, that makes us harder to find. Wish me luck.

Well you are off to a good start with the magic cotton tail slippers.
I get the feeling that most of the people who post here would not describe themselves as typical.
In fact do you know anyone who says I'm a typical .......whatever..??
Have you ever tried any typical social things.. Dancing and the like. You don’t have to be so good at these things and they tend to have a social aspect that includes people who are not part of the, dance group for example.
I find the most interesting people are not necessarily directly associated with the groups but tag along because they like to dance and use it as a way to do the social thing. Its very handy as you know generally where the group will be every week even if you don’t go every week… and as long as you like the dance or whatever you can expect to enjoy it..
Tango is so much fun too. :-)
What am I doing.. giving suggestions to MrsMo.. !!
Well good luck and post pics .. lol
My new years resolution will be a new job and a new apartment.

I dunno Mrs Mo, I just can't see you playing golf with the "lady's" sharing muffin recipie's :-)
Just don't fit your profile !
And them slipper's ain't up for it :-)
Nor can I see you draggin the big D to go dancing the tango or whatever :-)
Just do wardriving :-)
Me I don't do new year resolution's, guess what, I efing hate the new year :-)
I don't think it's a good time to give up thing's , nor is it a great time to start new thing's, the time of year is not conducive to such endeavour's.
Hence why they mostly fail!

LOL Kitz - you understand me too well. Unfortunately the wardriving, while sounding like my kind of fun, is a more solitary activity. I want social interaction, preferably with some ladies who I might have something in common with.
But part of my question was - even if you don't usually make resolutions - what resolution might you make. So, what about it Kitz, what resolution would you make if you absolutly had to make one?

You see the thing is, if I had to make one then it would be something that I would be able and willing to do, else what's the point ?
I mean I could vow to quit smoking, but that ain't gonna happen on Jan 1st, so what's the point of doin that , and really that's the only thing that I can think of that I should give up !
On the opposite side, IE, go do something new , dunno !
I do attend evening classes, but pretty much just computer stuff, so maybe I may ask the nice Polish girl working in my local store for some Polish lessons :-)
I could do with meeting more lady's myself, so perhaps flower arrangement's, or knitting , I mean it's cold right now so a nice wolly scarf would be pratical :-)
There you go Mrs Mo, we have a common cause , to meet lady's , albeit with different intentions :-)
PS: any good recipie's for tasty muffins :-)

Ah, you think new year's resolutions have to take place on Jan 1st... I always thought they were something you were going to work on during the whole new year. Like giving up smoking, Jan 1st, you might cut back and set yourself a goal of smoking half as much by March 1st, then another goal cutting it back by 3/4 by July 1st... the thing would be to quit before Jan 1st, 07. As for taking Polish lessons, if I were the pretty young Polish girl working in your local shop, I would be impressed and start liking you right away ;-)
Now for the muffin recipe...

Anyway Kits .. How do you know the intentions of Mrs Mo are not so different from yours.. with those slippers she has some very noticeable leather kit on.. You just would not know what she really has in mind.. !!
I have to say when it comes to meeting people I tend towards the foreigners. it seems it is the people who are interested in traveling and seeing different things that interest me most. Perhaps we should ship a few Polish "Ladies" over to Mrs Mo.
Polish Export lol
Mos Ladies.
Ooppsss.. better stop there before I really get into trouble..

hmm.. new years resolutions...
well let's see.. in 2001 it was to quit smoking. in '02 it was to quit drinking and smoking. in '03, quit smoking again. '04, to stop missing birthdays and my anniversary.... and quit smoking. '05.. didn't do anything for this last year. though if i had, it probably would have been to learn basket weaving or quit smoking. not sure yet about this year. the dancing thing sounds kinda cool, and i bet my wife would probably be down for that, but since we're about 13 hours away from each other (another missed anniversary) at the moment, that's probably not gonna happen. Relik's idea of losing weight sounds like a winner too, but i've been being way too lazy for that. so i guess that leaves only 1 resolution left... wonder if there's a world record for 'most failed attempts at quitting smoking'
peace,

I think someone might have a touch of S.A.D. (http://www.sada.org.uk/) during these dark winter months?
Cheer up Kitz, we're past the solstice, yay!

Another new years res I have is to post more of the stuff I find on the net..
Daremo can you add a .TXT or .DOC extension to the Allowed Extentions list in Daremo's Media Gallery (gallery?).? This is perhaps worth keeping and perhaps a bit bulky for a post.

I got this.
Letter From a Farm Kid
(NOW AT San Diego MARINE CORPS RECRUIT TRAINING.) Dear Ma and Pa,
I am well. Hope you are. Tell Brother Walt and Brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the places are filled.
I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m. but I am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot, and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing.
Men got to shave but it is not so bad, there's warm water. Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie and other regular food, but tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit by the two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you til noon when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much.
We go on "route marches," which the platoon sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it's not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore feet and we all ride back in trucks.
The country is nice but awful flat. The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The Captain is like the school board. Majors and colonels just ride around and frown. They don't bother you none.
This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk head and don't move, and it ain't shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes.
Then we have what they call hand-to-hand combat training. You get to wrestle with them city boys. I have to be real careful though, they break real easy. It ain't like fighting with that ole bull at home. I'm about the best they got in this except for that Tug Jordan from over in Silver Lake. I only beat him once. He joined up the same time as me, but I'm only 5'6" and 130 pounds and he's 6'8" and near 300 pounds dry.
Be sure to tell Walt and Elmer to hurry and join before other fellers get onto this setup and come stampeding in.
Your loving daughter,
Carol

That's pretty clever. I joined up with about 4 other guys and we were all a bit disapointed on how "laid back" bootcamp was compared to the horrible tales we got from our recruiter. Apparently our recruiter was a crusty old grunt who, rather than retire, chose to work behind a desk after an injury.
So what we expected was much worse than what we actually received. We were all running 300 PFTs before we arrived.
I tell you, we were vastly better off then some of those other guys whose recruiters told them "It's not that bad, don't worry."
Thank you Gunny Rivera!

Well you see the thing with my sister/mother/aunt.. sorry yes it is a very complicated story.. The thing is she was always stonger than our dad/brother/uncle. We thinks it is some strange combination of the milkmans geans. We usually keeps it all in the family but sometimes family planning dont work out.
Anyways I think you would like her Kits E Kat. She is very special... errr i means social, and likes to have a white sheet on with holes in it (thats to cover the beard) but she fits right in with our local comunity meatings.
