If I have got this right , in the US Christmass is now renamed to "Holiday" !
Have I got that right ?
I heard that Wall-Mart removed everything that had the word Christmass on it and replaced it with "Holiday" , WTF .
So , no "Happy Christmass" it's "Happy Holiday" , this is ( if I have got this right ) so mad it's just well off the wall.
Is this even vaguely true ?
Are you in the US prepared to extinguish the word Christmass for fear of ( I presume ) offending someone?
Who ? Who is offended by the usage of the word "Christmass" ?
Why ?
If so then I guess you better rename "Thanksgiving" to "Big dinner day" so as not to offend , well , someone.
Fuck, as all the day's of the week are named after Roman god's , better rename them "day 1" , day2, etc, or would that offend the non numerical amongst us :-)
And as the month's of the year are also named after Roman leaders/god's better change them also.....
Let's rename Easter to "Egg Day" ! , and not wishing to offend any member's of the chinese community let's rename "new year's eve" to "tomorrow" .
The land of the free ? I don't think so ..........
Ain't free to say "Christmass" gotta say "Holiday" totall fuckin bullshit , you guy's need a revolution , badly !
Your great leader Mr Bush ( apperantly ) has two set's of card's one says "Happy Christmass" and the other says' "Happy Holiday" ........
Glad I don't live in a Country ruled by madness , yet !

I can understand having "Happy Holiday" cards as an alternative to "Merry Christmas" cards for Bush - he's sending cards to people around the world with different belief systems. I can even understand different stores changing their signs from Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays, for the same reason - they are selling to customers who may or may not be christian. But the good news is that the Whitehouse is calling the "Christmas tree" just that - no more Holiday tree.
That said, yes, you're right, the US is going mad. The political correctness people are driving the average citizen right up a wall, and they're what is behind much of the "holiday" VS "Christmas" crap. It makes me want to go out and start banging heads together!

Now you're speakin' my language. I've said for some time now, there is a grand difference between anarchy and chaos.
Bring it on!

Call me stupid Mrs Mo, but is "integration" not "understanding" and participating in each other belief's ?
Me I think it's cool wishing my Chinese friend's a "happy new year" when it's long past "my" new year, that's kinda fun, it's fun to be able to "celebrate" other's celebrations. They ( my Chinese) friend's think it's cool that I wish them a happy new year, I think it's cool .
It's integration, anything less is , well it's forced and not right.
I will have to try keep this short !
Really my problem is this, if we try to ignore the tradition's of our different culture's, then we try to ignore where we all came from, then we loose our identity, then we loose what we are , then we ain't nothin.
That's what result's in race riot's , race hatered, etc.
Rather than try make us all the same, which ain't gonna work , we should try to participate in each other's celebration's , rather than try to assimilate us all into one group, let's celebrate what make's us diffenent, that make's for a fun place to be .
Now I could be talkin crap, my excuse is it's late, but really I think it's pretty counter productive to do away with Christmass, and replace it with the "holiday" moniker.
It pisses off those that celebrate Christmass, show's those that don't celebrate Christmass that Christian's really don't have any attachment to Christmass, and are pretty hollow people. They would have to be to allow their major festival to be demeaned in such a manner, something that would hardly elicit respect.
Is someone here gonna tell me that if I invite a non christian dude around for drinks on Christmass day that he will be offended ? doubt it , he/she will be happy that I issued an invite in the first place, and why not , I offer to invite you to partake in an event that is important to me, that's friendship....
Your government want's to do away with that ................

That sounds nuts.. Not you Kits E Kat though I'm sure yu are, I mean the idea of stopping the naming of a holiday. So would that mean the Chinese New Year would be called "holiday" too. no one would know why anymore. or Ramadan or Easter..
It sounds so ridicules I'd actually ignore it in the understanding that it is a load of rubbish.
Anyway you can be sure that as the largest voting section of the US is made of Bible Belt, Church going, God fearing people it aint going to happen. And if it did it would not last long.
All the advertising would be thrown out of whack too. Too much money to be lost in doing it. Naa! Not going to happen Kits E Kat.
Perhaps a good thing to throw in by a party or other to show it cares about such stuff but not going to happen..
Mind you that is what was thought by the guy who started the idea of no smoking in public places here .. lol..he ended up having to follow it though out of general support. lol

I'm with ya Kitz. I experienced the same kinda thing recently. I live in a small town in the UK with an ever growing Portugese population. When the football world cup was playing, naturally people were flying the St George cross all over the place. The council ordered everyone in town to take down there flags to avoid offending the Portugese residents.
Now I'm sorry but we're in England and we're not allowed to fly our own flag? How the hell do we have any hope of retaining some kind of national identity? I'm sure the people coming up with these ideas are just trying to be a bit too nice.
Here in the UK we welcome immigrants from almost all nations. People move here, tell their friends and family how great it is and they move here too. Before you know it, you've got a whole community of foreign nationals living in their own little segregated pocket, with their own religious buildings, shops, services etc. Meanwhile, GMW can't fly his flag!
This isn't integration. This is segregation. Sure, we shouldn't be preventing these people from going about their day, but we certainly shouldn't be doing this to our own citizens.

Were I you, I would have (respectfully) refused to comply with the council. I would have required them to bring me up on charges or forcibly removed my flag.
At that point I would love to see the public cry and the appeals to higher courts when a respectable citizen is prohibited from flying his nations flag within their own borders and/or having authorities remove it.
This, in my opinion would make your coucil look like asses

What ever happened to "When in Rome......" ??????
Now it's "When in Rome, do as we did before and expect the Roman's to do as we would have done before we came here" WTF is goin on here ...
World is gone mad ..
Fly your flag dude , and fly it with pride , for that's what you are ,were , and will be :-)
And if someone move's in and has a problem with that , stuff them.....
There was me thinking that you moved to different country's to enjoy the local tradtion's not remove them, I can tell ya if I go to Saudi Arabia and tell them it's my "tradtion" to get pissed on Friday's , they will tell me to go stick it, should a lady go there and say it's her "tradtion" to wear a short skirt and drive a car, well the conversation would be a short one, and it would be in police custody...
The odd thing , the people we bend over to "integrate" have fuck all interest in "integration" ................
