This little experiment of mine is developing into a great place. The discussions are intelligent and civil. The comments are genuine and well thought out.
Just remember to give reputation points to others. I have fixed it so that giving reputation, whether positive or negative, will result in a small gain to the giver.
This will make the promotion system work. I envision that, at some point in the future, we will get some name-calling, flaming wankers here. By that time most of the good folks should be promoted to the level that they will have access to forums without the aforesaid wankers. I also believe that the collective community ire will cause bad reputation to be given to these wankers and thus, keep them from getting promoted.
I also see that some of you have lit the first LED on your post-meter and that your reputations have increased. Hover the mouse over the reputation-meter to see yours.
From your acceptance of this website I see that I have struck a collective nerve that many good intelligent folks need a place to discuss any topic in a somewhat confrontational and open manner. I have often felt that many intelligent folks love to argue a point in order to see all facets of it and reach new insights. Discussion without debate doesn't encourage us to defend our position. This conflict allows us to see just how 'defensable' our beliefs really are.
