A dentist in New York City is trying to prevent her patients from posting bad reviews of her work online. The DDS is forcing her patients to sign a contract promising not to criticize her work online before she will work on their teeth.
Now the dentist is suing one of her patients who claimed online that she overcharged him $400. The man claims she is "fining" him $100/day for every day the remarks about her remain online.
The way I see it, he isn't complaining about her work, but her billing practices.
Regardless, do you think a court will make him pay the dentist's fine? Do you think a contract signed under the circumstances ( imagine a sneering German accented voice: You want the pain to stop? Sign the paper old man...) is valid in the first place? What would you do if your dentist presented you with such an ultimatum?
As always, here's a link to the whole story: http://www.azcentral.com/offbeat/articles/2011/12/01/20111201dentist-fines-man-bad-online-review.html
